It has been confirmed that both Oxford and Southampton’s Common People Festivals have been cancelled due to administration.
The powers behind Common People Festival have had documents filed with Companies House, claiming that the festival company (Common People Festival Ltd) owe a staggering £543,546.50. This figure is according to The Southern Daily Echo.
Due to going into administration, it is highly unlikely that Common People Southampton, and its sister festival in Oxford, shall take place in 2019. Regarding the axe, Southampton Councillor, Satvir Kaur said:
“It’s not happening. We have really enjoyed working with the Common People team and I will be sad to see them go.”
Regarding the cancellation of both Common People Festivals, liquidator Julie Palmer of Begbies Traynor Ltd believes that “they have got some potential” to pay off debts, but it is unlikely that the 2019 events shall take place.
The event, run by Rob Da Bank who also heads Bestival, will, therefore, more than likely be cancelled indefinitely like RiZE Festival.
