Discovery Of The Week: Lena Laki

London-based German singer-songwriter Lena Laki is one of those ultimately talented musicians it’s essential to appreciate. She began her career recording popular jazz and folk covers, all the while developing her own skill and style to become the artist and woman she is today.

‘Take Me With’ is a melancholic, beautifully self-aware and mature piece of work. Wistful violin is bowed to perfection as Laki’s vocals swim within its echoed lines. The song begins on an optimistic note, but develops more layers and levels of contemplation and sorrow, which Laki conveys exceptionally, becoming more passionate and powerful with every breath.

Having premiered her latest track ‘Craving’ with Gigslutz earlier this week, Take Me With – the debut EP from Lena Laki – is set for release on 15 April.
