EP: Baby In Vain ‘For The Kids’

If Baby In Vain‘s new EP is For The Kids, they’re the moodiest, coolest, most corrosive kids around. The Copenhagen trio’s new release makes for provocative post-watershed listening, and was made for fans of grunge and noise-rock.

Opening track ‘Martha’s View’ boasts a listening power equal to an oceanic current; the swirling, mesmerising riffs ring out, pulling you deeper and deeper into heavy, grungy waves of sound. Second song ‘Muscles’ sees the band flex their impressive vocal chords over delicious distortion, re-living “paranoia, nightmare, memories…” at a dinner party in their back yard.

‘Worthwhile’ is a smoother listen, whilst the jagged synths on ‘The Urge’ provide the ideal sound to watch “the sun crawling over the hills” to. Closing the  EP is ‘Jesusfreaks’, a tortured track saturated with religious imagery which imagines the son of God murdered by gangsters: “Jesus will sleep with the fishes tonight”.

The release of the EP comes just before Baby In Vain’s string of support slots with The Kills, which includes a show at London’s Village Underground on Wednesday 4th May. The trio also play their own London headline date at The Victoria, Dalston on Thursday 5th May.

Approach For The Kids without caution, and self-medicate to Baby In Vain’s antagonistic, seductive, noise-rock sound.

For The Kids is available to download and stream now via Partisan Records and released on vinyl on 10 June. Pre-order it here.
