EP: Miss – ‘Do You Feel Electric?’

Delivering entirely self-produced creations, unlikely pairing Marty Felton and Benjamin Wade met at university before labelling themselves Lights Out Lester. They have since changed their name to Miss, and released their debut EP.

Opening Do You Feel Electric? is a lyrical form of the title, sung with dynamically textured vocals. The EP continues with smoky riffs and opposing silence, assisted with angelic singing; there is no doubt “Miss” have entered the music industry with a smash.

‘Ant vs Elephant’ presents us with reverberating grunge guitar transitioning into a contrasting, melancholy and serene sound before ending on a crescendo and resorting back to their grunge notes towards the end of the song –  it takes you on an unexpected, exhilarating journey.

Next track, ‘Phantom Pain’, resembles Yannis Philippakis’ misty vocals. An upbeat melody is gathered during the addictive chorus, contradicting slightly the previous refrain. A juxtaposing entrance to ‘Shelter’ is seen with the inclusion of a piano instrumental and the familiar cloudy voice of the lead singer. Again introducing a crescendo, together with the presence of an organ in the tune.

A mix between rock, with an element of intriguingly individual melodies, Marty Felton and Benjamin Wade’s renamed band resemble tones of Django Django within their newly released EP. Possessing a distinctive, enchanting sound, Miss will undoubtedly triumph in their prosperous band.

Do You Feel Electric? is out now, you can buy it from Miss’ Bandcamp.
