EP: Reporters – ‘Only Noise’

A duo who’ve received copious praise from Gigslutz – from previously being featured as an Unsigned Act Of The Week, alongside their track, ‘Only Noise’, being crowned This Feeling’s Track Of The Day – are Reporters. The indie-rock band from Milton Keynes have furthered their legacy and heightened the hype surrounding them: due to the release of  their raucously vivid, Only Noise EP.

Mixed, mastered and recorded over at Northampton’s Far Heath Studios by Angus Wallace [The Prodigy, Ian Brown], the Only Noise EP consists of three unique tracks, all channelling the raw, DIY vibe Reporters pride themselves on. No gimmicks, no fancy sounds – just pure, menacingly addictive rock.

Opening the Only Noise EP is the previously-championed title-track. Fueled by Dan Stock’s warped vocal and complimented by Josh Ringsells manic drum lines, ‘Only Noise’ is a bloodbath of uncontrollable power. Oozing from every note, the self-confidence and blinding individuality of Reporters – showcased throughout ‘Only Noise’ – highlights the sheer talent that this duo harness and are beginning to share with the world.

Following the driving force of ‘Only Noise’ is the terribly intimidating ‘Easy Does It’ and ‘In A Minute’. The latter finds the sensational duo stripping back and revealing a more delicate and elegant side to the band, while the former cements Reporters as one of the most versatile acts to emerge from their home-town.

Three tracks, three completely contrasting and controversial sounds, and three nods of approval. As far as a release goes, the Only Noise EP is a bold statement from Reporters.  You get what you put in, and boy, have Reporters grafted for this.
