THIS FEELING TRACK OF THE DAY 08.11.14: MATINEE ‘MISSING PIECES OF A JIGSAW’

Matinée are an East London four piece indie band who return with their stunning new single Missing Pieces of a Jigsaw.

Described by Chris Geddes from Belle and Sebastian as “Anthemic indie rock with electronic flourishes. Hints of Franz Ferdinand and the Britpop era abound”. The single is produced by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Carl Barat, Glasvegas) is a melody driven guitar soaring song about loves broken secrets and will be released this autumn on Neon Tetra Records and is a blistering indie track.

The band are named after Scotland’s very own Franz Ferdinand’s hit song ‘Matinee’ and struck ap a friendship with the band after supporting them in Italy. Our Mediterranean friends well and truly embraced the band the support gigs lead to live offers from some major venues around Italy not to mention some huge radio support. UK support has come from NME, Q and Jim Gellatly of XFM Scotland / Amazing radio is an official fan. Matinee were nominated for Best International Act on Amazing Radio Awards show and also played live at the uber cool Station Sessions at Kings Cross London.

Matineé have played live at many key London venues including Death Disco (Creation Records; Alan McGee’s night),Jubilee (Carl Barats night) and the 100 Club. Last year they played at the Un Altro Festival in Milan opening for The Lumineers and Daughter, other support slots include Mystery Jets, The Futureheads , and British Sea Power.
