This Feeling Track of the Day : Richard Ashcroft 'Surprised By The Joy'

Musical shaman Richard Ashcroft is back. Last time he put an album out, 2016’s ‘These People’, he said it was his mission to reconnect with his fans “cos I’ve seen what happens when we release that valve.” Since then he’s been round the world performing festivals and gigs with Liam Gallagher and the Rolling Stones and there’s been a reawakening on both sides. New single, ‘Surprised by the Joy’, finds Ashcroft in a state of exaltation, his indestructible vocals as strong as ever. This tune, the first off his upcoming album ‘Natural Rebel’ out on Oct 19, represents his current contentment and appreciation for life, music and his loyal fanbase (“It is for them”, he says).

It’s what Ashcroft’s always been about, the rare knack of capturing emotion and all sides of the human experience. Music is power, so is Ashcroft.
