Frank Turner shares details of new album, and UK & Ireland tour dates

He has also shared ‘1933,’ the first single from the upcoming record.

Frank Turner has this morning announced details of his seventh studio album, Be More Kind. Set for release on 4 May.

Following Songbook, his recent career-spanning retrospective, Be More Kind is set to be a thematic and sonic line in the sand for Frank Turner. Covering the political and the personal, anthems and emotion, the album sees Frank Turner ‘get out of [his] comfort zone and o something different.’

Though initially halfway through a very different album about women from the historical record who had been ignored, Frank Turner was inspired by a line from a Clive James poem to rethink his direction. The line in question, “I should have been more kind. It is my fate. To find this out, but find it out too late.” Devastated by the line, Be More Kind came to be.

Giving us the first taste of what’s to come, Turner has shared ‘1933’, a furious, unrelenting anthem. Inspired by the suggestion that the alt-right was punk rock, ‘1933’ is fuelled, fiery and an exciting taste of what’s to come.

Frank Turner has also announced details of a UK/Ireland tour for April/May,
