Gengahr share new track “Icarus”

Following a World First on Zane Lowe’s show on Beats 1, Gengahr today share the soaring “Icarus”, from their much anticipated third full-length album, Sanctuary, released this Friday 31st January 2020 via Liberator Music (part of The Mushroom Group). About the song, the band said:

““Icarus” is a song about growing up and coming to terms with the expectations of our youth. As a child we believe anything is possible but as we get older there is a crushing realisation as we begin to understand that the journey of life has its own uncontrollable trajectory. Dave East, who made the videos for “Heavenly Maybe” and “Everything & More”, created the visuals to go with it. Shot near his home in Cape Town the film depicts a car driving down one mountain at night in search of another to climb – much as in life, as we abandon one weight of expectation in search of a new pinnacle.”

Sanctuary alsofeatures the single “Heavenly Maybe” which is currently playlisted at BBC Radio 1 and was Tune Of The Week on Radio 1’s Greg James’ Breakfast Show last week. Described by DIY as “a pleasing slice of indie-pop” and by Clash as “an ultra-infectious new synth jammer”, the track is also A-listed at BBC 6 Music and is at 29 in Spotify’s UK Viral Weekly Chart. Listen in to Radio 1 tonight to hear Gengahr live in session with Annie Mac at Maida Vale and to BBC 6 Music tomorrow as Sanctuary will be their Album Of The Day
