Gigslutz favourites, The Savage Nomads, share new single – ‘Pinkie’s Little Light’

Young South Londoners The Savage Nomads are back with a bang with their new single ‘Pinkie’s Little Light’. After a surprise facebook friend request acceptance and a message from Brendan Canty of Fugazi saying he loves their music and wants to record with them, this summer the band packed up and flew off to the one and only NYC. And, despite having to raid their savings and pawn some equipment, The Savage Nomads made it to the studio and it was definitely worth it.

‘Pinkie’s Little Light’ is the product of this once in a lifetime opportunity – a jaunty yet sleek track that holds surprise and wonder within. Cole Salewicz’s vocal is that of a modern-day David Byrne, both soft and firm. In fact, the whole song wouldn’t be out of place on ‘Little Creatures’. Salewicz is excellently versatile and fascinating to listen to throughout this great little track. Rhythmically the melodies are magnificent and constantly grab your attention – you never know where this song will take you next, and that’s the best thing about it. So much music you hear is predictable and boring these days, like a dodgy rom-com. But The Savage Nomads make music exciting once more: ‘Pinkie’s Little Light’s is thrilling and impulsive, with elements of ’80s pop and electronica. Who knows where these lads will go next; hopefully right to the top.
