GIGSLUTZ PREMIERE: A S Jay shares debut track ‘Fame’

Making his worldwide debut on Gigslutz is up & coming lyricist A S Jay; a budding talent who made a conscious decision to move to London after falling in love with its vibrant multiculturalism. Having taken inspiration from the sounds of some of the country’s finest talents including Tinie Tempah, Wretch 32 and Skepta, we are happy to bring you the premiere of A S Jay‘s debut track ‘Fame’.

Expressing what the majority of new artists feel as they begin their journey towards chasing their dreams and obtaining that ultimate ‘superstar status’, ‘Fame’ sees A S Jay combine his polished rhymes and auto-tuned vocals with a bass-heavy, trap beat, demonstrating his ability to bring on-point bars and sleek vocals on one track. The artwork for the single, of a young Michael Jackson, is hugely significant to the thought process behind the track, as MJ could easily be described as the epitome of ‘Fame’.

Hip Hop culture played a huge part in the start of A S Jay’s journey, as he describes the late great Tupac Shakur as an artist who not only influenced his music but had also adopted the role of a ‘musical father figure’. A S Jay also connected with other musicians who made music that evoked emotion, such as Jay Z, Nas, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole but to name a few and it is these influences that inspire him to create the soulful, conscious music that we hear on ‘Fame’.

With the video to ‘Fame’ set to be released in the run up to his forthcoming debut body of work, A S Jay is set to have a bright 2015 and with Hip Hop currently enjoying an intense media spotlight, thanks in part to Drake’s recently released surprise album, A S Jay is definitely one to keep your eye on!
