Gigslutz Preview: Astral Coast Festival, The Floral Pavilion, New Brighton 19th July 2014

Wirral’s newest festival returns to this Merseyside Seaside town near Liverpool, ready to showcase even more of Liverpool’s immense music scene.

This year’s headliner Bill Ryder Jones is one of the greatest composers to come out of Merseyside; he is the former lead guitarist of The Coral, he recently helped out Arctic Monkey’s on their nationwide tour as well as crediting on some lyric writing on their album ‘AM’ and is a phenomenal solo artist in his own right. 2013 headliner’s By The Sea return, having had a phenomenal year with rave reviews about their debut album from the likes of Q, NME and Uncut. Astral Coast will provide a rare opportunity to catch them on home turf as they prepare for their second album. Joining them on stage will be Manchester band Temple Songs performing some hits from their sell out 7” single. Recently, touring with the likes of Smith Westerns, The Wytches and Night Beats has only brought them even closer to the forefront of psychedelic rock. Closing the fest are The Tea Street Band who, despite not having yet dropped their debut album, have established themselves as the good-time, guitar pop band of Merseyside. Recent tours across the US and even supporting the likes of Manchester legends The Charlatans have only confirmed that they are definitely one to watch and have a bright future.

If you’re by Merseyside this July make sure you grab the opportunity to go the area’s best new music festival and catch some rare acts from phenomenal talent at Astral Coast.
