Gigslutz Urban: Fresh This Week (8.5.15)

It’s that time again where our Urban Music Editor Matt Tarr gives you the all important playlist of some of the latest tunes in the world of urban music that have caught our ears and maybe even made us shake a leg. Fresh This Week is that list and this week there are some real bangers, so check it out…

Tinie Tempah ft. Stormzy and Bugzy Malone ‘It’s Peak’

Over the last year, Stormzy and Bugzy Malone have made huge names for themselves within the UK urban music scene and Tinie Tempah has decided to recognise that by getting them in for a feature on his latest track ‘It’s Peak’. After Chip decided to send for Tinie and several other MC’s in his now infamous ‘Pepper Riddim’, it was only a matter of time before Tinie responded and it turns out it was worth the wait. Omarion ft. Dej Loaf, Trey Songz, Ty Dolla Sign & Rick Ross ‘Post To Be (RMX)’

After everyone loved the original track with Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko, it was only right that Omarion brought us a remix and he’s called on some of the biggest names in the US right now to join him on it. With Dej Loaf, Trey Songz and Ty Dolla Sign bringing tunesome vocals that aren’t too disimilar to the original, Rick Ross’s rap adds an additional element to the track and he even fits a ‘Free Gucci Mane’ shout out in at the end. Memeb ‘Thousand Words Ft Kaleem Taylor (Original Mix)’

‘Thousand Words’ is the first offering from Spanish production duo Memeb. An interesting fact about Memeb is that they’re actually brothers. Featuring Kaleem Taylor on vocals, the track has serious summer vibes and wouldn’t be out of place coming through the speakers of a beach-side bar. Follow on Twitter and Facebook.

OD Hunte ‘Big Things’

Written and produced by OD Hunte himself and with some additional vocal support from rapper Index Dex, ‘Big Things’ is a track about ‘working hard and smart towards achieving your goals in life’. Having spent most of his musical career producing tracks for others, OD Hunte has decided to make the step from producer to artist and on the basis of this track, we think it’s a great choice. Double S ‘Do It Like Me’

Former Marvell member Double S returns with ‘Do It Like Me’ ahead of the release of his debut solo EP The Flow Farda EP. With the trademark skippy flow that Double has been renowned for over a number of years now, he skillfully kills the throwback eski-beat and announces his new EP with a bang. Follow on Twitter.

Jme ft Giggs ‘Man Don’t Care’

If there’s one thing that you can rely on from a Jme track it’s that you know it’ll be pure grime genius. Once again the Boy Better Know MC has raised the bar with Integrity, one of the best grime albums for a long, long time and ‘Man Don’t Care’ is the latest video taken from that. Peckham rapper Giggs comes along for the ride and the result is this monster track. Follow on Twitter and Facebook.

Kyle Lettman ft. Scorcher ‘Moving Too Fast (Solo Suspex Remix)’

Back in the early part of the last decade, Artful Dodger ruled the charts and ‘Movin Too Fast’ was one of their most memorable songs. Earlier this year UK R&B sensation Kyle Lettman and grime MC Scorcher teamed up on a revamped version and now Solo Suspex have updated the track even further, with an upbeat and hugely dance-friendly remix. Wiley ‘From The Outside (Special Request VIP)’

Snakes and Ladders, which was released earlier this year, was said to be Wiley’s final album and it was critically acclaimed across the board. ‘From The Outside’ was a huge track from it and now Special Request have had a go at reinventing it, adding a load more bass and a breakbeat feel. If we don’t get any more albums from the Godfather of Grime, at least people remixing his tunes will keep us happy. Follow on Twitter and Facebook.

Knytro ‘Not The Only One (Sam Smith Cover)’

US rapper Knytro shared a cover of Sam Smith’s ‘Not The Only One’ recently and dedicated it “to all the fathers out there who fell subject to the absence of their children in any way shape or form and most importantly this cover is dedicated to my sons. Daddy will always love you and he won’t stop at anything until the job is done”. It’s a good job he’s made a decent cover then. Follow on Twitter and Facebook.

FooR feat Damien Murdoch – ‘Attention (Hypnotised)’

Production group FooR returned with new music recently and after we premiered their remix of Zak Toms’ track ‘Bring Me Down’, we were struck by another of their new ones in the shape of ‘Attention (Hypnotised)’. Featuring the vocal talents of Damien Murloch, if this deosn’t make you wanna get up and dance, rewind it back to the start and try again. Follow on Twitter and Facebook.
