I Would Go Out Tonight – Gigslutz Weekly Gig Guide 04.02.14

Hello sex faces! How are you? I thought you were, but I didn’t want to ask…you look thinner! Well tho week sees us go a little ‘alty’ – we’re somewhere between awkward kid in the corner at the school disco to edgy cool hipster, that nice middle ground that isn’t were and/or annoying. So what are we waiting for, let’s party!

Foals
Foals are a bit cool and sexy. Sometimes shout and heavy, sometimes soft and vulnerable – always sound good. The Guetta-hating Oxfordshire 5 piece begin their assault on the live circuit this week with support from Cage The Elephants. Expect sweaty rooms, loud noises and maybe even a smooch during the tender moments, crackin!

Catch Foals in Dublin, Manchester and Glasgow this week

John Bramwell
I Am Kloot frontman John Bramwell is off on the road with his guitar this week. Playing intimate settings and lovingly plucking his guitar, this may be a perfect date night gig (and according to YouTube vids this guys is funny too – win!). Bramwell is brilliant, like a proper blast from the past when proper musicians played instruments and wrote songs and wore their hearts on their sleeves dammit! Go have a look, you’ll like it!

Rekindle your love for the acoustic guitar with Bramwell, at The Louisiana in Bristol on the 6th and the Brundenell Social Club Leeds on the 7th

The Cherry Wave/Strange Coast/The Pacific Blues/Passion Pusher
A couple of weeks ago Notting Hill Arts Club were at, this week it’s our friends in the (very) North. Glasgow’s 13th Note are giving free reign to the Radical Ghost label on Thursday. A combination of ‘shoegazing, grungey, tropical and noise partying’ apparently. My pick is The Pacific Blues, twangy guitars that sound like they’ve come straight out the back of beat-up convertible, very sexy. Hey, half the country’s under water anyway, so why not pretend we’re at sea!

Layer those checked shirts on you way to 13th Note Glasgow on Thursday 6th

Adult Jazz
Initially, I thought music venues across the UK had finally caught on to what I’ve been saying for years – jazz dancing and lycra are the way forward! Alas, they had not, buuuut I did discover this very awesome four-piece. They are the masters of making one 4 minute song sound like many songs sewn together, amaze. How will their genre bending indie translate to the stage? I don’t know, but I’m looking forward to finding out, and I’d be wearing leg-warmers.

Adult Jazz play London’s Servant Jazz Quarters on the 5th and The Wharf Chambers in Leeds on the 6th – Leotards optional

When not making cocktails for Manchester's finest, Le Titts is most likely to be found the other side of the bar in a cloud of smoke and wine musing loudly over her fantasy band line up, love of the album format and why nothing is better than The Stone Roses. And then spilling the wine...Loving the ride with GigSlutz.
