INTERVIEW: Kingdom

Folk of Liverpool will be well acquainted with Mr David Dutton. He is probably best known for his music in bands such as The Black Velvets and The Skylarks, however he will also be well known to many as a drunken nuisance.

His new band Kingdom launch their debut EP this Friday night in their home town of Liverpool. We caught up with the man himself a few questions ahead of the big night…

Hello Dave, how the frig are you today?

Feeling good! Cold as fuck though…

Can you tell us a bit about how your new band Kingdom came together?

Yeah, I’ve been in other semi successful bands but was sick of playing rock music so I found people that would follow my lead fully…

Can you describe your sound in 3 words?

Anthemic. Soulful. Real.

Your new EP in set to be released this Friday – can you tell us a bit about the recording?

It was done in Parr St produced by Tom Longworth…

You’re having a launch party too to celebrate the release – What can we expect from the Kingdom live show?

It’s gonna be a proper party – with some grand surprises!

Whats next for the band? Any more releases / tours coming up?

The Shiiine On Weekender is our next show, with our album and tour next year.

Tell us a fact about Dave Dutton

I have panic attacks if I listen to rave music.

Is it true you invented “not sleeping”?

I did! It’s the best and worst thing I’ve done.

What would your desert island disc be?

How to survive on a desert island vol 1

Kingdom’s ‘EP ONE’ launch party takes place Friday 23rd October at Alma De Cuba, Duke Street, Liverpool.
