INTRODUCING: GXFT

When you think of talented wordsmiths within the current UK urban music scene, artists such as Mikill Pane, Akala and Wretch 32 are are few that are sure to instantly spring to mind. In the not to distant future, there is an artist that is sure to join that list and he goes by the name of GXFT.

Taking influences from US artists such as Drake, the North West London rapper has chosen not to use a vocal hook on his debut track ‘Untitled’ and simply sprays verse after verse, discussing his fractious relationship with a former girlfriend. Lyrics such as “Tell me what’s next / we break up then we have make up sex / this doesn’t make sense / you can’t keep living life in the past tense” demonstrate the clever rhymes and wordplay that GXFT utilises and when you think that he is only 15 years of age (please pick your jaw back up off the floor now) it is even more impressive.

At such a young age many people would argue that you don’t know about life and haven’t experienced much, but having gone through a host of difficult times in the first fifteen years of his young life and finding it easiest to express himself through his music, GXFT has got a lot to talk about in his songs and with more music on the way in 2015, we can’t wait to hear it!
