Johnny Marr plays new song ‘Candidate’ at Lollapalooza

When you’ve had a successful career in music for almost 40 years, most people would choose to hang up their guitar and call it a day.

Johnny Marr, it seems, is not quite ready for that yet.

At his Lollapalooza show, he confirmed to  the crowd at the Niceto Club in Sao Paulo that he was in the process of making his second solo album, of which he played two new songs.  As well as performing some old Smiths classics such as ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’ and ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’, Marr played, ‘Boys Get Straight’ (which had been played previously at the Brudenell in Leeds) and a second, ‘Candidate’, had never been heard before. Check out some fan footage below.

The new album will be following the success of his debut album, The Messenger, which was released in February 2013.
