LISTEN: A Cause In Distress – ‘Lumbering’

Self-described as the “three-headed love child of Nine Inch Nails, Fugazi & Radiohead, if it was fathered by David Lynch”, Southend outfit A Cause In Distress blend dystopian electronics, yearning vocals and vivid beats on their debut single ‘Lumbering’. Released via Cool Thing Records and produced by Rees Broomfield, the track is an abrasive exploration of how it feels to move forward when the odds are stacked against you.

Formed of a visual artist, a singer-songwriter and an ambitious drummer, A Cause In Distress create dark but energetic soundscapes that lament the inaction of society, but that are underscored with a sense of hope.

The band describe their single ‘Lumbering’ in more detail: “It’s about viewing the world with a sense of claustrophobia and dread, as humanity bounces between various financial crashes, wars and climate disasters, whilst continuing to lumber endlessly forwards, seemingly in a wounded state.”
