LISTEN: A Cause In Distress share new single ‘Submission’

Exploring their internal locus of control through yearning vocals, vivid synth textures and energetic beats, Southend-based electronic duo A Cause In Distress have shared their latest single ‘Submission’. Released via indie label Cool Thing Records, the track is an ode to moving forward and persevering in the face of adversity, especially if that adversity is coming from within.

Produced by long term Cool Thing Records collaborator Rees Broomfield (Beckie Margaret, Indian Queens, BLAB & Private Jetlag), ‘Submission’ is the fourth single from A Cause In Distress, who have been busy working on material for their debut album. Self-described as the “three-headed love child of Nine Inch Nails, Fugazi & Radiohead, if it was fathered by David Lynch,” the duo aim to push the boundaries – both internally and externally – of what it means to create art whilst existing in a world that often tries to extinguish your creative spark. On ‘Submission’, the band resist these pressures through their driving rhythms and emotive lyrics.

A Cause In Distress offer more context on their new single: “This song is about my submissive nature and passiveness as a person and how it has stopped me from doing things that are out of my comfort zone, and keeps me fixated on my flaws believing I’m not good enough to face life’s challenges. It’s a pep talk with myself to push myself more and not be scared of old habits and to embrace and learn from my flaws.”
