LISTEN: Doves side project Black Rivers share track ‘The Ship’

Twins Jez and Andy Williams of Mancunian indie heroes Doves, who have been on hiatus since 2010, have branched off to form side project Black Rivers, which they say gave them “the freedom to go wherever [they] wanted”.

Debut track ‘The Ship’ is now available for download and provides an exciting prospect of echoing indie electronica. Speaking of their new endeavour, Jez said: “Some bands are rooted in the reality of the here and now. I suppose we’ve always been about escapism: searching for something. That’s the link, but I wouldn’t want to think we sound too much like Doves.”

The release of Black Rivers’ debut track has come soon after Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin’s recent solo efforts in the form of album ‘Odludek’. The brothers began recording late last year and the release date for the album is set for early 2015.

They will soon showcase their new material with two warm up shows in support of Neon Waltz at Gullivers in Manchester (31 July) and Liverpool’s The Shipping Forecast (1 August), before  performing at Kendal Calling (2 August) and Belsonic festivals (18 August).
