LIVE: Kof @ Liverpool Sound City 22.05.2015

Kof has been around ‘since Dick docked’, as we say in Liverpool.  He’s a regular at local festivals and like Esco Williams or MIC Lowry, seems happy being a big fish in a small pond.  It’s a laid back mix of psychedelic soul, roots and rap.  If that seems like an almighty mess, it’s an exceeding funky one.  The band both play and look tight, dressed in black pants and white shirts.

In addition, he has a social conscience.  Kof is food for the soul, the heart and the feet.  It did more for me in half an hour than some bands do in two.  He does one extra tune, leaving the next act kicking his heels in front of the stage.

In conclusion, what works on a sunny afternoon in Sefton Park works on a cold, wet Friday in Liverpool’s dockland.
