LIVE: REWS – The Islington, London 21.09.16

Surrounded by the scarlet curtains of The Islington’s stage on Wednesday night, London-based duo REWS celebrated the release of their upcoming single ‘Miss You In The Dark’ with an energy and enthusiasm that’s set to inspire the next generation of girls to pick up instruments, and throw themselves in to the musical spotlight.

Guitarist and lead vocalist Shauna Tohill, and Drummer and backing vocalist Collette have been touring their pop-rock tunes across the country at Green Man Festival, Ramsbottom Festival and a BBC Introducing gig, and they’re gaining fans and momentum with each performance.

It’s a genuine pleasure to watch the duo perform because they look completely relaxed in each other’s company. In between songs Shauna engages with the crowd and asks them to sing and dance along, whilst Colette supports her by chiming in with a few jokes to keep the energy up.

The girls smashed their way through their set, which included powerful renditions of debut single ‘Can You Feel It’, ‘Death Yawn’ and the incredibly catchy ‘Shake Shake’. Mid-way through, Shauna switched to the keyboard and it was equally as electrifying as her guitar playing. Colette never misses a beat on the drums, and together they delivered a defiant and delightful show.

Their delivery of upcoming  single ‘Miss You In The Dark’ was powerful and poignant, and Shauna’s lyrics will strike a chord with those looking for the strength to move past memories of love gone wrong. With songs about romance, recovery, and redemption; REWS’ live performances will hit you in the heart and stay rooted in your head long after they’re finished. Make sure you catch these two live at some point in the near future!
