Following the release of their critically acclaimed third studio album ‘Millennials’ at the beginning of the year, the lads from West Lothian head out on the road to embark on a 16 date European tour, which began in Cologne and somewhat predictably draws to a close in in Glasgow.

Tonight’s stop is the O2 Academy in Birmingham and as The Snuts take to the stage with a backdrop of flickering retro television screens the crowd erupts in a wave of appreciation. The evening opens with ‘Millionaires’ and is followed by fan favourite ‘Seasons’, which sees the youthful crowd singing every word back to the stage.

The set continues with new tracks, ‘Pigeons in New York’ and new track ‘Yoyo’ and anthemic sing a longs in ‘Knuckles’ and ‘Rodeo’. The antagonistic and politically driven ‘Burn the Empire’ is full throttle and in stark contrast is followed by hip hop inspired ‘Zuckerpunch’.

The evening is heavy laden with new material, but the purists get a stripped back rendition of ‘Sing for Your Supper’ which gets its first outings for 5 years and a beautiful vendition of ‘Top Deck’ as always show cases front man Jack Cochrane’s vocal ability and maturity in his story telling and lyrical delivery.

Given tonight’s performance, it is abundantly clear that The Snuts continue to strike gold in terms of a winning formula. The transparency and honesty in Jack Cochrane’s song writing, backed by perfectly melodic anthems, The Snuts have the songs to back their ambition and self-belief. With their third album release under their belts, and the ability to bring such a sense of unity with their music, it is incredibly exciting time for the lads from West Lothian who are on quiet a journey. Long may that journey, and their level of musical creativity continue.
