LIVE: Tyson Fury – Esprit Arena, Dusseldorf 28.11.15

When it comes to live shows, there are not many people around today that can outshine Tyson Fury. The Mancunian giant was performing at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf for the first time, but his composure on the big stage made it seem like he’d been there a million times before.

On the second night of a two-date tour of Germany, having previously performed to a lively crowd at Dusseldorf Airport, Fury was in majestic form. His vocals have been questioned by some in the past, but at this show he was easily at his melodic best. There had been a lot of talk prior tp the event that the performance may have been cancelled due to a number of issues with staging and other things, but thankfully they were wrapped up and the show went on.

Fury’s set list surprised many as he didn’t opt for any of his classics, but instead performed a brand new track. ‘Walking In Memphis’, ‘Keep It Between The Lines’ and ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ have all become cult hits but leaving them as part of his back catalogue, the 27-year-old opted to sing ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing’, dedicating the track to his wife Paris.

It was quite the surprise and early rumours have stated that the studio version of the track, which features a live beatboxer, is a front runner for the 2015 UK Christmas Number 1. Fury fans all over the world were amazed by his performance, with a number of celebrities and fellow artists sending him messages of support (see below).

The sound of Fury’s exquisitely delicate vocals will be ringing in the ears for a long while and following the emotional set, he’s definitely gone a long way to building his credentials as a true musical heavyweight. Fury did seem a little tired as he took centre stage, with rumours circulating that he may have had an altercation with Ukranian former World Heavyweight Champion boxer Wladimir Klitschko before his set, although at the time of writing that is unverified.

With future performances in Las Vegas and London being talked about and with the likes of Taylor Swift, Metallica and Prince interested in collaborating (unconfirmed), it seems there’s a lot of fight left in this young artist yet.
