Written on a misty morning in Limeuil, on the Dordogne River, Not My Wife’s second single‘Boar Hunt’ will be released on all platforms on 20 May on Ditto Music via label Rekognition Sound.

Produced by Sean Genockey (NewDad, Shame), engineered by Jake Stainer (Wet Leg, David Gilmour), and mastered by Grammy Award winner Matt Colton (Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines DC) the track is inspired by the sounds of cinematic horror, evokes images of unseen villains and creeping discontent, and builds on their debut track ‘Home Alone’ combining tense vocals, angular bass, and atmospheric keys and guitar.

Singer and lyricist Olivia Mercer said:

“Boar Hunt explores how relationships can hold up a mirror, in a way that can be exposing and uncomfortable. The lyrics explore the idea of searching for something in someone else that maybe doesn’t exist, and what that says about your relationship with yourself. This theme is intertwined with fragments of horror, hyperbolising the idea of being lost and nihilistic, which is again heightened by the title ‘Boar Hunt’, helping create the feeling of simultaneously chasing something and being chased.”

With melodies drawn from Radiohead and The Cranberries, combined with Nashville slide and 80s pop synths, producer Sean Genockey honed their sound at Le Rouquet (Limeuil, France) and Metropolis Studios (London, UK). Hailing from Aotearoa / New Zealand and forming in London, Not My Wife have performed sold out shows across the capital for the past 18 months to devoted mistresses and divorced dads.

The bands success has risen from a string of sell out shows and word of mouth hype before music even hit the streaming platforms. Their trademark sound bringing together their unique blend of 80s synth pop and Antipodean surf rock has been capturing attention and imagination with a small army of fans flocking to see each show. This caught the attention of Sean Genocky and Jesse Wood (Reef / Ronnie Wood Band) of Rekognition Sound.

Their next show is at XOYO as part of the Far East Festival on the 29th of May 2026. Tickets are available here: https://bit.ly/notmywifeticket

The band will be hosting another sure to be sold out London Headline show this Summer to follow.
