Wigan quartet Flechettes announce the release of their first new music in almost a year – and with it comes a change in creative direction.

Dropping on 21st April 2023, ‘We Shall Find Out’ showcases the band’s freshly developed two part harmony (that blends together beautifully). Since forming in 2019, Flechettes have continued to expand and develop as artists, and the band believe this single is no exception.

Frontman Jack Heaton tells us: “We wanted to find more distinction sonically, so we’ve been working flat out to break our sound down and rebuild it.” Cue a year of experimenting and fine-tuning. “That painstaking approach took some time but we’re stoked with the results.”

Bass player William Watts, who doubles up with Jack on the vocal arrangement, chimes in: “We spent 2022 bouncing vocal levels against each other, so much so that it’s not just become a sonic fingerprint for the band but what I would describe as a more intelligent score.”

With the accompanying sharp edged guitar riffs and elaborate drums, we’d say they’ve nailed (both figuratively and literally, with a Flechette being a ‘a type of ammunition resembling a needle, used in bombs’) that nod to ‘intelligent indie’ within this 3.30 minute punchy performance.

“We’re really lucky to be working with some amazing people behind the scenes and we cannot wait to put all these new ideas to the test and make things happen” say the band. Will 2023 be the start of an exciting new era for Flechettes? That, we shall find out.
