New Track: Beach Baby – ‘Ladybird’

Beach Baby originally got together at the musically enriched Goldsmiths College in London. Originally started by co-vocalists Ollie and Lawrence, who advertised looking for members to join their (what was previously) folk-fuelled sound and dual writing partnership, bassist Iraklis swiftly joined the duo, shortly followed by drummer Shep who finalized the quartet.

Although they formed in London, the group originate from Dorset and Athens. With influences such as Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths and Nirvana, Beach Baby started making music inspired by the transition of British New Wave as well as more US-inspired ‘90s grunge.

Beach Baby’s debut single, ‘Ladybird’, is a haunting track incorporated with folk-tinged guitars and hazy vocals. The song has a heavenly tone from beginning to end, starting with the intricate finger picking of the guitar and dreamy harmonic shared vocals throughout. This track, without a doubt, offers a musical high which can often be hard to find. Blossoming into an aggressive ending and slowly disintegrating, you’ll be sure to find yourself back at the beginning for another listen. ‘Ladybird’ is co-produced by William Lowes mixed courtesy of Cenzo Townshend – an English music producer and mixer who has worked with the likes of U2, Jamie T, Snow Patrol and many more.

‘Ladybird’ is set for release as a 7″ and digitally on March 30th 2015 via Chess Club Records.
