New Track: Heat – ‘Lush’

After earning comparisons with The Jesus and Mary Chain, Heat display their pop sensibilities on new single ‘Lush’.

The band have attracted plenty of attention since their debut EP Rooms, with names such as Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and The Strokes all attributed to the Montreal band.

In truth, Heat have always been more melodic than visceral. ‘Lush’ is somewhat of a step away from the aforementioned artists – certainly their most ambitious release to date – without losing an ounce of attitude.

Despite the shoegazey guitars and frontman Susil Sharma’s breathy sneer, ‘Lush’ never strays too far away from its hazy-pop underbelly.

As the first offering from their upcoming debut album Overnight, ‘Lush’ bodes well for the rest of the record.

Heat’s debut album, Overnight, is released on January 20 via Topshelf Records.
