New Track: Kiran Leonard – ‘Pink Fruit’

At just 20 years of age, Manchester’s Kiran Leonard is a wonderfully innovative artist whose offerings should not pass you by.

Having released acclaimed debut Bowler Hat Soup back in 2013, as well as a number of Bandcamp EPs and homemade CDR releases, Leonard is now set to release a new album next March.

Following a run of festival dates this summer, including wowing me at Green Man in August, Leonard has now shared the first track from his new album.

‘Pink Fruit’ is sixteen minutes of angst-driven musical bliss. Oozing a dream-like, emotion-strewn cacophony of sound, it’s reminiscent of underrated ’90s grunge outfit Slint, and flows with an eerie, distorted charm. It’s a stupendous work of art that you really must let your ears devour.

Grapefruit, the new album from Kiran Leonard, is out 25 March 2016 on Moshi Moshi. ‘Pink Grapefruit’ will also be released as a limited one-sided 12″ vinyl on 12 February.

You can (and must) catch Kiran Leonard live in January:

11 January – The Victoria, London
12 January – Prince Albert, Brighton
13 January – Eagle Inn, Salford
14 January – The Hug And Pint, Glasgow
