New Track: Tom Low – ‘Phone’

‘Phone’ is the latest track recorded by Tom Low. Primarily starting with a distorted, old fashioned voice, the track progresses due to the introduction of a beat. Despite the synthesised beats being present, it is still simplistic, yet effective. Throughout the song, this mix of singing and conversational vocals are present, further pushing the genre of the track into a slightly distorted, yet psychedelic, category.

After gradually becoming more upbeat, there is a pause before the continuation of the song. Familiar phrases to the listener are used, such as “please leave your name and number”, creating a modern, technological twist to the distorted, edgy sound. Compared to the simplistic beginning, the track becomes significantly livelier and more powerful, once the electric guitar enters.

Resembling Tame Impala in some verses within the song, Low has managed to connect elements of 80s, distortion, psychedelic and electrifying indie genres together, creating an exciting new sound.
