ONE TO WATCH: Marvin Divine

Marvin Divine is an artist with a very interesting back story. Born in Tottenham, he fell in love with music during his younger years and in late 2004, at the age of 12, moved all the way over to Maryland in the US to live with his mother. It was in America that he discovered his talent for rapping and since then he hasn’t looked back.

Having gained over half a million views on YouTube for his track ‘Dreamers’ back in 2012, Marvin has been steadily sharing a number tracks and projects, plus featuring on tracks from his fellow artists including a superb feature on K-391’s track ‘Godzilla‘. But now, three years after his biggest hit to date, he has decided that he’s taking on a new style, look and edge to his music career with hopes for a new single very soon.

That new image and style was first seen on his 7-track Breaking Point EP, which he released a couple of months ago. Whilst ‘Dreamers’ was a very chilled look back at stories from his past, each track on Breaking Point, other than ‘Pretty Lights’, was a much harder, more focussed Marvin Divine than we’d ever seen before. The grittier beats and more trap-influenced instrumentals allow Marvin to showcase his flow more than he was previously able to and each track on the release feels current, yet unique.

With new music set to be released in the very near future, Marvin Divine is set to enjoy a strong second half of 2015 and all eyes will be on him as he continues to make the transition from his previous image; so make sure you get to know this US rapper with UK roots as you’ll be seeing a lot more of him soon. Check out his Breaking Point EP in full above and make sure you stay up todate with all the latest news from Marvin himself via his Twitter.
