Ones To Watch: Close Talker

Rating:

Autumn has hit, and the chilly mix of dying leaves and naked trees has become apparent once more. Yet all is not lost, Close Talker are back following their self released 2013 debut, Timbers. Coming together in 2012, the Saskatoon indie-rock group have been associated sound-wise to the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, and now bring us their new single ‘For The Sun’ – the most recent cut from their upcoming second album Flux. This follows ‘Burnstick’, which Spin Magazine streamed and praised for its “sanguine melodies”.

It’s a nostalgic trip back to the the summer months but the ultimate catch is “I feel for the sun”, followed by a brilliant beach ready riff worthy of The Drums or Two Door Cinema Club. You can’t fault this dreamy haze rock drenched in softly strung electric hooks- you can certainly tell that Close Talker have had a productive summer. Winter warmer, autumnal glower, spring up starter, or summer gem – whatever you want to call it, Close Talker have got the formula to a perfect indie-rock anthem; it’s now time to take a listen to the perfect rock record. Flux, Close Talker’s second album, is out now.
