Ones To Watch: Fish Tank

Hailing from Kent, Fish Tank have been developing a loyal and energetic following since their birth in 2011, and their relentless dedication and made of stone attitude has seen the band rewarded with slots at Reading and Leeds, amongst other festivals. And now they’ve shared their latest single…

‘Barbarella’ begins with an infectious run courtesy of a guitar, before being welcomed by vocals from Ed Wetenhall that nod towards the likes of gritty icons, The Libertines. The start is chaotic, but the chorus soon lifts the whole thing up, before returning to the turmoil of the verses, leaving you partially delirious.

The track also takes a bow towards some of the more overlooked bands when it comes to the golden age of indie music, such as the Pigeon Detectives; it oozes a sound that provides you with joy whenever it enters your brain through the gateway of your ears.

‘Barbarella’ is raw in the main, but holds some elegance – a well balanced mix of the cliché of both the calm and the storm.

Keep your eyes peeled for a new EP from Fishtank later this year.
