Ones To Watch: Sweaty Palms

Glaswegian rockers Sweaty Palms started as a result of a few friends thinking big whilst on a series of nights out, which then resulted in front-man Robbie Houston buying a guitar almost instantly, straight away Sweaty Palms found themselves deep inside the belly of the rock and roll ethos. The band have been doing things in only ways they see fitting, with them even performing shows under the pseudonym The Sweats. They recently announced details of their new double B-Side ‘Love Me/Pretty Poor’.

‘Pretty Poor For A Posh Boy’ is a heavy hitter with a drawling guitar that shares similarities to the likes of Drenge’s masterful ‘Fuckabout’, filled with an energetic angst, which then turns into a carnival of dark chaos as it reaches its end.

It’s this chaos that has attracted so many to Sweaty Palms already, with the band exuding an undeniable energy that cannot be contained. ‘Love Me’ holds an equally dark baritone, evoking an essence of disturbia – think Iggy Pop’s ‘The Passenger’ over-surging with adrenaline.

Sweaty Palms have tapped into a very mysteriously eerie yet likable sound, and the potential which lies within this band and their music is a very exciting one.

‘Love Me/Pretty Poor’ is out 1 July via Black Sheep Records.
