PLAYLIST: Gigslutz Best of 2014

So that was 2014. It’s been a brilliant year for new music with artists such as FKA Twigs, Glass Animals, East India Youth and The Orwells all bringing out cracking debuts, whilst big hitters like Jamie T, Alt-J and Kasabian returned with new albums.

Indie heroes Courteeners came back with yet more anthems along with the all-conquering Bombay Bicyle Club, whilst Future Island’s ‘Seasons (Waiting On You)’ seemed to be everywhere. The old guard had a vintage year too, with Inspiral Carpets, Damon Albarn and Johnny Marr all returning with some of their best work to date.

Dance music also seemed to be sorting itself out in 2014, with a host a banging new tracks, represented here by the likes of Redlight and Gerd, whilst Caribou continued their consistent run of form with the brilliant ‘Can’t Do Without You’. And on top of all this Azaelia Banks finally dropped her long awaited debut Broke with Expensive Taste which was rammed with belters.
