Premiere: Bright Young People share new single and video, ‘Suppress Happiness’

Boasting praise from the likes of Iggy Pop, Ian McCulloch, Duff McKagen and Glen Matlock, as well as Gary Powell who signed them to his label on the spot after witnessing them play, Rhyl 3-piece Bright Young People are now set to win over the rest of the world with their latest single: ‘Suppress Happiness’.

Speaking of the track, frontman Lee Dawson says: “I personally want people to paint their own picture of the content on the song, sometimes it’s best to not give too much away. I suppose you can say the chorus ‘Yeah come on and use me have some fun’ can mean a person being taken advantage of for money, being manipulated or blackmailed in some way. Also it’s about realising nothing is around forever, ie the lyric ‘I know every breath I take, one more I lose.'”

Reminiscent of Kim Deal and Nirvana, but packing a punch entirely unique to Bright Young People, ‘Suppress Happiness’ is incredibly powerful.
