Introducing: Proletariat

Though they’re yet to release a single or play any official gigs (as in, ones that aren’t in their garage), and you may be yet to hear of them, Proletariat are one of the most exciting bands emerging this year. While they haven’t been gigging, what they certainly have been doing is developing and establishing a bloody strong sound.

As for their influences, they come from all over the place: from bands that shaped their generation (Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Oasis, The Libertines etc), to classics like The Clash and Ramones, and even newer bands; but the result is, ultimately, their own solid sound. It’s driven, emotional and lyrically refreshingly personal and honest, yet it never strays into the territory of over-emotional or trying too hard. It’s clear that Proletariat have a knack for what they’re doing.

The two demos currently on Soundcloud (‘Bad Habits’ and ‘Mr Brown’) are, at 2 minutes, short, but packed with enough snarling vocals and relentless power to fill an entire album. Now all that’s left to do is wait for one…
