Ever heard of the phrase “the longest road out is the shortest road home”? Well that is exactly what Prince Bishop are telling their listeners, with their latest psyche-rock roller coaster ‘Roman Roads’.

From the critically-acclaimed 2021 single ‘Come Alive’, Prince Bishop are paving their own way through the alternative rock music scene. Channeling such influences as Foo Fighters, The Amazons and even progressive-rock legends Rush, the band have found a sound that takes listeners on a real journey of self discovery.

Opening the song with their recognisable vibe-heavy guitars and atmospheric vocals, the band gives us a sense of nostalgia without dragging us too far into the past. Prince Bishop have always known how to maintain a certain energy to their music, and ‘Roman Roads’ is no exception to the rule. As the band’s charging guitars and forceful drums motivate you to move on and forward, the song’s lyrics only further convince you to choose your own path and explore the world in front of you. A trip from start to finish, the track mixes layered falsetto with impressive instrumentation, to create a song that just begs to be played on repeat.

As lead singer Ben Trenerry reveals, “we live in a world of easy wins, but nothing worth having is easily attained”. ‘Roman Roads’ leaves you feeling inspired, as its anthemic quality and inherent honesty shows listeners how much they’re missing out on by playing it safe.

‘Roman Roads’ reminds listeners that their current view may be good, but it can only get better from here.
