SINGLE REVIEW: West On Colfax – Choke Hold

SINGLE REVIEW: West On Colfax – Choke Hold

Having been in and around the music business for some time now the debut single by West On Colfax entitled Choke Hold oozes class. Released on January 10th on new label Greenhorse Records the band are set for special things as this classy number attests too.

Sounding like a distant well versed cousin to He’d Be A Diamond, Choke  Hold delivers where others have failed to deliver uplifting guitar pop. Entering proceedings with a classic guitar chord the band immediately embrace a similar sound to A Catholic Education period Teenage Fanclub whilst there are some nasal slightly softer Mark E Smith vocals plus the timely addition of a sky high guitar solo, this musical concoction delivers perfect results to the core of the human soul.

2020 is set to be a busy period for the band with their debut album entitled Barfly Flew By on the horizon, the Lancashire quartet with a love for bands like The Stone Roses, Son Volt and Big Star are not to be shunned at, rather, anyone with a decent ear for uplifting guitar pop with a nod towards the aforementioned bands plus The Band and The Byrds should discover these fast rising starlets.

Choke Hold is released for download from 10.01.2020 (pre order from 03.01.2020) from this link
