Tracks Of The Week, 09.07.18

Back with another dose of raucous rock n roll, Fizzy Blood have shared the video for their latest track ‘Pink Magic,’ alongside two headline show announcements.

Taken from their forthcoming EP of the same name, ‘Pink Magic’ is the mark of a band who have found their bearings, saying of the three tracks “this is the happiest we’ve ever been with our music,” and in ‘Pink Magic’ it’s clear.

With the video – a pastel pink delight – letting the music do the talking, ‘Pink Magic’ is a triumphant, noisy declaration that Fizzy Blood have found their sound.

Pink Magic EP is out in September.

Fizzy Blood play:
19th Sep – Brudenell Games Room, Leeds [TICKETS]
21st Sep – Boston Music Room, London [TICKETS]

Ahead of setting out on an East Coast tour this August, Brisbane’s VOIID have shared a brilliantly no-nonsense video for their track ‘Not For You.’

Seeing the girls playing, dancing, and generally giving no shits in a warehouse, in front of a screen displaying snippets into today’s feminism, showing vintage cuts into a woman’s life (clips of household chores labelled things like ‘where they belong’) alongside snippets of powerful protests. It’s a hard-hitter, and undeniably important, but ultimately a shit-tonne of fun.

Perfect for sunny afternoons, and the warm evenings they lead into it ‘Islands,’ the debut offering from LA’s My Ultra Violet, is set to soundtrack our days for the foreseeable future.

Seeing the band (Magic Wands’ Dexy Valentine, and collaborators Coleman Moore and Phil Galloni) introduce their enchanting alt-pop sound, ‘Islands’ is at times melancholic, though ultimately an incredibly soothing, dose of sun-drenched pop. Described by the band as a “summer song about falling in love” it’ll transport you to the dreamiest places this summer.

‘Islands’ is out now, with a debut EP, Wilde, coming soon

Taken from their latest EP, Talking Violet are transporting us to other worlds with ‘Sparjammer 67.’

Set to introduce the Canadian four-piece to a worldwide audience, ‘Sparjammer 67’ is a slice of sparkling dream-pop that has the ability to completely engulf all senses. Taking on themes of unity, and the delicate moments we share together, inspired by the band wandering around Kensington Market one Toronto night, ‘Sparjammer 67’ is a hazy, incredibly warming offering; and a perfect introduction to Talking Violet.
