Tracks Of The Week, 11.07.16

Following the success of her wonderfully joyous debut single ‘Baby Love’, the globe-trotting, euphoria-inducing Petite Meller is back with a brand new track in anticipation of her debut album release later this summer.

Recorded between Brixton and Johannesburg, and featuring musical performances by members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, ‘Milk Bath’ is another genre-defying creation from Meller.

Flowing with uptempo tribal beats and unique, honey-sweet vocals oozing a childlike optimism, ‘Milk Bath’ is filled with a pure, summery joy and captivating zest. As its uplifting, sunny vibes race alongside Meller’s colourful energy, it’s another simply delightful, feel-good offering from this entrancing artist.

You can catch Petite Meller live this summer at:

21 – 24 July: Secret Garden Party, Huntington
8 – 11 Sept: Bestival, Isle Of Wight

Having spent the year busy rehearsing and recording in studios across London, Pace are now ready to unveil their debut single ‘Heartbeat’.

Already receiving acclaim, being ‘Track Of The Day’ on Clash, ‘Heartbeat’ was produced by Bernard Butler (Suede), who says of the project:

I heard Eden’s (Pace frontman) voice and loved the English baritone quality to it…”

The baritone vocals are accompanied by gentle, jangly melodies, sweeping strings and a distinct heartfelt romanticism, reminiscent of the likes of early noughties bands such as Travis or The Kooks. However, ‘Heartbeat’s raw emotion makes for a refreshingly honest and original slice of melodic pop.

‘Heartbeat’ is out now.

London-based singer-songwriter and producer Emily Magpie certainly knows how to keep busy; a singer, producer and actor, she has previously performed in prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scotts, and has now released her debut EP.

Title track ‘Same Stuff’ is filled with lilting ukulele melodies alongside Emily’s smooth, dreamy vocals. A charming, emotive offering that is a pleasure for the ears to behold.

Same Stuff, the debut EP from Emily Magpie, is out now.

Danish singer-songwriter and producer Fjer creates emotion-filled electro pop.

Produced by Lennart Rasmussen (formerly of Kill J), and accompanied by a snazzy video directed by Stine Thorboll, new single ‘Her Turn’ is filled with glitchy, throbbing beats and impassioned vocals. A slice of glistening electro-soul; a perfect accompaniment to a chilled summer’s evening.

‘Her Turn’ is out now.
