Tracks Of The Week, 20.03.15

Poetically pretty sounds captivating even the coldest of hearts: Inti Rowland‘s latest effort, ‘Masks Of Winter’, is causing quite a storm where the Chilean artist is concerned. Brandishing the branch of alternativeness, ‘Winter Winds’ – with its fuzzy, mellow violin use – is the perfect Spring re-awakening track. Harbouring intense emotions, the folk-drenched vocal of the London-based artist is something so unique, it’s near-impossible for ears not to be satisfyingly startled.

‘Masks Of Winter’ comes ahead of Rowland’s debut LP, 17th Century Japanese Aviary, out on April 13th.

Storyteller supreme CatHair has managed to create the ultimate slurring, gritty, acoustic cocktail: the hot-off-the-press, ‘Lifetime’. Equipped with a lethargic vocal and simple guitar riffs, ‘Lifetime’ is a celebration of the Orlando-based artist’s abilities, proving this lad has something seriously sweet in store for 2015.

With a Soundcloud page chock-filled with CatHair tracks to sink your claws into, things have never been so rosy for the alternative scene.

A sound which could be described as not being too distant from the pioneering pop sounds of t.A.T.u, with elements of the iconic Kate Bush and a subdued Gwen Stafani thrown into the mix, are Cornwall’s Rosie And The Goldbug. Controlled and contemporary madness is delivered in the form of hectic electronica on the outfit’s new single, ‘Running In The Dark’.

Blaring attitude and relying heavily on the excitement-factor, ‘Running In The Dark’ is the new wave of pop, bringing individuality to the forefront. Find out more here.

Regardless of it being a common staple at Spanish beauty’s Hinds‘ (FKA Deers) live shows for an age, it’s never too late to jump on the ‘Davey Crockett’ bandwagon. Covering Thee Headcoats’ ode to the late Texan hero, Hinds’ ‘Davey Crockett’ is the freshest jumble of juxtaposing chords and lulling, languid voices that the world has heard in a long time. Burning the serious side of this track, Hinds have made their mark through smirking rhythms and a congealing, hyperbolic chorus  of “gabba gabba hey”.
