TUNE IN: DJ Cameo presents #GimmeGrime on BBC Radio 1Xtra

As DJ Cameo prepares to welcome two UK urban music legends onto his #GimmeGrime show tonight (Tuesday), in the shape of Harvey and Bushkin from So Solid Crew and Heartless Crew respectively, we wanted to bring you two sets from the last couple of weeks that have caught our eye.

The first was recorded two weeks ago and featured members of grime collective, Bloodline. Milli Major, Bossman, Meridian Dan & Paper Pabs were the members of the group who hit up the show and it did not disappoint. Since Meridian Dan’s chart success with ‘German Whip’ and Big H’s Lord Of The Mics main event clash with P Money increased the amount of interest in the group, Bloodline have managed to maintain the high level of quality that we have come to expect from them and this set is no different.

Whilst Prez T is another hugely important member of Bloodline who wasn’t present on this set, the quality of bars such as “Big bars I carry that daily / that’s why promoters pay me / I dead a MC and deal with the aftermath you can call me Shady” from Bossman and “Serious don ask Google, dunno why man wanna mess with a bugle / serious don search Google, can’t take man for an egg fried noodlefrom Meridian Dan did enough to make up for those who were absent.

The other set that recent set on #GimmeGrime was that of Sheffield City Underground Movement Family aka Scumfam. With grime having spread like wildfire across the UK since it’s creation in East London, several regional crews have made a name for themselves and Scumfam are the number one crew out of Sheffield right now. With Scumfam member AK, having appeared on the most recent edition of Lord Of The Mics and fellow member Tez Kidd having appeared on a previous edition, the collective, like Bloodline, have enjoyed a rise in interest over recent years, which is exactly why Cameo invited the group onto his show. If you thought grime was just a London thing, think again and check out Scumfam’s set below for a Sheff education.

With the exciting prospect of So Solid meets Heartless Crew on Cameo’s show tonight and an additional UK Funky set from another urban music legend Donaeo, BBC Radio 1Xtra is set to be the station to tune into from 10pm tonight! Make sure you’re following the man himself, DJ Cameo on Twitter and Facebook as well in order to stay up to date with all the latest news on his shows and more.
