Unsigned Act Of The Week: Wildfowl

Rating:

Wildfowl are an up and coming alternative trio from Kent including members Rory Bell on vocals and guitar, Shaun Meaney on bass and Adam Green on drums and percussion. Having recently finished their debut UK tour promoting single release ‘Jezebel’ in May, the band have now added more dates to their gig calendar.

With Plain White T’s ‘Rhythm Of Love’ springing right to mind when this track begins, Wildfowl turn the tables to make the song their own with the beautiful harmonies and the sudden stops in the music to create suspense with the drum beat that  follows. ‘Jezebel’ has a flowing, up-beat rhythm to it, arousing curiosity in the listener, making them want to hear more. The band’s influences include Ben Howard, Miles Kane, Band of Skulls and The Black Keys – all of whom Wildfowl wear upon their sleeve and are evident in this up-beat track. Using teenage experiences and situations, Wildfowl create unique lyrics mixed with intelligence and delivered with a bite. ‘Jezebel’ is a song which is impossible not to tap your foot along to, or even get up and dance.

This track gets 4 out of 5 from me, because of the impressive skills of the instruments throughout and the positive feel to the track. Wildfowl are definitely a band to watch out for.
