Video Premiere: Feral Five – ‘Rule 9’

Following the frenzied cacophony of their last single, ‘Neurotrash’, ‘electro-punk’ duo Kat and Drew – aka Feral Five – have previously received acclaim from BBC 6Music and Louder Than War, and have now shared a brand new video for their latest track ‘Rule 9’.

Collaborating with designer Francis Bitonti, Feral Five have created an intriguing and hypnotic visual to this intense and other-worldly track. Combining sounds from Bitonti’s Rule 9 algorithms with the duo’s distinctive synth-driven melodies and vocals in nine different languages, the film is a unique and innovative offering set to inspire and captivate.

Directed by leading audiovisual artist and VJ Michael Hodgson, the making of the video involved many hours of Bitonti’s studio processing footage of a design algorithm that represents simple life forms. Of the video, Bitonti says:

“We developed an Algorithm that could process the raw video to produce the visual compositions you see in the video. In much the same way we used algorithms to generate the sounds you hear in the audio tracks.”

Feral Five have also been picked by Human League/Heaven 17 founder Martyn Ware to play his Picasso-inspired artists’ colony night at The National Portrait Gallery on 20 January. More info here.
