Video Premiere: Mannequin Death Squad – ‘Van Gogh’

Following singles such as ‘Sick’ and ‘KYMS’, and having supported the likes of Slaves, Melbourne duo Mannequin Death Squad are back with another exhilarating offering and accompanying video. Taken from their debut mini-album, ‘Van Gogh’ is a perfect example of just what this scuzz-punk duo are capable of.

Starting with gentle, melodic tones, and soon building in intensity to a riotous explosion, ‘Van Gogh’ is filled with raging riffs, pounding beats and the soaring, sultry vocals of Elena Velinsky. Racing with a fierce power, the track finally reaches its climax in a distorted, whirring cacophony.

Of the new video for ‘Van Gogh’, the band explain:

“We can get a bit too serious sometimes, so we wanted to make fun of ourselves, doing our hair and trying to look ‘cool’ on camera… At the same time we think it’s important to highlight how manipulative all forms of the media can be. It’s time to look at the world through your own eyes, recognise what is wrong and do something about it. Switch off. Switch it off.”
