Gigslutz East Coast USA correspondent Michelle Scott gives you the low down on whats going on stateside… In this blog she gives us THE WHITE LIGHTERS
On first listen, there is a familiarity created by a vast array of musical influences, the effect of which has been infused into The White Lighers’ style. Influences span the course of generations, yet the sound is not something that can be pigeonholed into any of these in particular. T
The polished rawness and uniqueness is something that many bands are lacking nowadays. Solid and strong instrumentals and vocals that evoke emotion rather than just a meaningless recitation of a collection of words. Also, the tracks are not repetitive. You can hear the sound created by The White Lighters and can sense the connectivity between tracks, yet at the same time, each track explores one of the various facets of their influences and combines them with the individualized talent brought to the studio by each of the musicians themselves.
Here’s a quick breakdown of my top five songs: “Get With It” and “Living in the Dark” are classic, strong, catchy, riff driven rock. Add lyrics which portray a storyline and you end up with “Province & McCluskey”. The predominant keyboard intro in “Blue Sky Lightning” softens the album a bit, while still adding depth. It takes the listener on a gradual climb, which peaks midsong, and then brings them back down the musical mountain. The final song in the tracklisting, “This Too Shall Pass”, displays an emotional rawness combined with an acoustic melody and vocal harmonies.
Be sure to check out The White Lighters on Facebook and YouTube. You can listen to the songs mentioned above, in addition to a few others on Reverbnation.
Until the next time!
