WATCH: Slaves cover Skepta’s ‘Shutdown’ in BBCR1 Live Lounge

With one of the fastest rising reputations in British music, Kent duo Slaves have enjoyed an amazing 2015. With their debut album Are You Satisfied? due out next month and a host of festival bookings across the Summer, including Reading & Leeds, there doesn’t seem to be anything that can stop them.

Seemingly being able to do whatever they want and make it a huge success, the guys have decided, after playing a brilliant live version of their track ‘The Hunter’, to cover Skepta’s latest track ‘Shutdown’ in Radio 1’s Live Lounge. Revealing before the performance that they love grime and see a lot of the punk attitude within the genre with MC’s “doing what they want” and being “inspiring for musicians like us”.

Knowing how great these guys are live, we were certain that they would do a top job and they absolutely smashed it. Being able to take one of the biggest grime tracks of the year and turn it into a punky, guitar-led beast is no easy task and we have to take our hats off to Slaves because they made it look easy.
