WATCH: slowthai returns with new single ‘feel away’ ft. James Blake + Mount Kimbie

slowthai shares new single ‘feel away’ featuring James Blake & Mount Kimbie. The opening lines of a new chapter for the Northampton rapper as he readies his new album to follow his Top 10, Mercury Music Prize nominated debut ‘Nothing Great About Britain.’

If anyone was ever in any doubt of the talent and musical versatility harnessed by this multifaceted 25 year old rapper, this slice of new music should smash those in a heartbeat. ‘feel away’ – slowthai’s first piece of music since May and his first official new single since his debut album – is a frank and poignant depiction of navigating personal relationships and breakups.

“This song is about the doubts we have whether it be within friendships, your partner or with our family. It’s about putting yourself in the other person’s shoes so you have a better understanding of the situation.”

Written in LA with James Blake and Mount Kimbie at the head of 2020, ‘feel away’ is musically in contrast to his latest tracks ENEMYMAGIC and BB (BODYBAG) which he surprise dropped across a week in May to inject some excitement into a sombre year and rally his fans. ‘feel away’ flips that sound on its head and shows a more hushed, reflective side to Tyron with the added emotional pull of James Blake’s distinctive voice, but at all times he retains that razor sharp, gut-punching lyrical content we’re accustomed to; slowthai isn’t here for straight up ballads.

True to form, the video – as directed by Oscar Hudson (Radiohead /Young Thug), is a feast for the eyes. Warping any romantic connotations of the song, it visually messes with your mind in the best possible way.
