FESTIVAL GUIDE: Apple Music Festival 10

Name: Apple Music Festival 10

Where: Roundhouse, Camden

When: 18th – 30th September

Headliners: *Deep breath* Elton John, The 1975, Alicia Keys, OneRepublic, Calvin Harris, Robbie Williams, Bastille, Britney Spears, Michael Bublé and Chance The Rapper.

Also Featuring: Nothing announced yet but each night usually has a support too.

A Brief History: iTunes Festival began 10 years ago (hence those double digits in the name this time) at the Institute of Contemporary Arts with a month of gigs throughout September 2007. After moving to Koko, Camden the following year it made its way to The Roundhouse in ’09 where it’s been ever since. Last year saw a name change (following the launch of Apple Music) and a reduction from a week of gigs to 10 days, but the quality remains the same with huge acts playing an intimate venue. As you’d expect from Apple, the festival embraces technology and live streams the gigs, so if you don’t get tickets you can still stream the gig onto your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV… Which is better than watching your mate’s dodgy footage the morning after.

How To Get There: Plenty of red buses and underground trains that’ll be pleased to get you close.

Gigslutz Top Tip: Apply for all the tickets! Whoever you get to see they’re all arena-worthy so it’s a unique chance to see them up close.

Memorable Moments: Genuinely too many to mention, with hundreds of acts playing over the past decade, including support slots early on who’d go on to become household names (Foals, Florence…) but a shout out to Lady Gaga who played nothing but new songs from ARTPOP back in 2013.

Did You Know? Tracks from a lot of the early gigs are available on iTunes as EPs.

How To Get Tickets: Head to iTunes, applemusicfestival.com or Dice for a chance to win.

The Playlist: On Spotify, awkwardly…
